Red face Anyone else encounter this crash yet?

Ugh I guess it was only a matter of time. I thought that I was lucky running Skyrim, for as long as I did, with no crashes but tonight I get this.

runtime error R6025
- pure virtual function call

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/125749

From what I can gather the engine was calling for something that wasn't...there?

That's a fairly strange error. Have you replaced any of the DLLs or other files that Skyrim or Steam depend upon? Have you used the LAA/4GB patch?

Sorry, not a clue then, sounds like a programming error somewhere. It's a hard programming error to make so I would say possibly to do with your PC if it were not for the sheer number of people experiencing it.

Have a Google, quite a few hits. One person said it happens more with AMD cards, so AMD could be to blame. Check for driver updates in the coming days.

Thumbs up

Thankyou for the kind reply. In the 58 hours I've played this is the only big I've ever seen. I guess I count myself lucky. o_O

I'm going to see if it keep happening or if this was just a one off thing. I've re-verified the game files and my crashed save loaded ok.

So far so good.

I will peruse new drivers after the patch I think.

Oh a whim though, where would i get the version of C++that Skyrim runs on? I have a heck of a time navigating the Microsoft site. o_O

Gentle bump in case anyone else gets this bug tonight.

I hope the patch fixes this.

could that just be a random error? I've only had two crashes in game (once in the tunnel where you grab that amulet, after casting fireball on the wall to escape and one randomly crawling mistvale.
wasn't that error though.

I've had the exact same crash, so it's not likely something specific to your RAM or system.

Well, I just encountered this exact error, while doing something as sexy as running in the wilds, and then BAM!

4 people with the same error and not one has posted system details.

In this situation you should always post specs, it could be a specific hardware & driver problem that might be identified if you would only post specs!

What MM said. You need the correct version of C++ for your OS, 32 or 64 bit.

DawnGuard! I'd struggle to call it an expansion pack.
