Thumbs down Don't get this game on PC

The game is great but it's plagued with many fatal glitches on the PC. Get it on the console if you can, or wait until they're able to patch it and enjoy other games in the meantime.

Twice now I've got stuck with a glitch in the main storyline where the game just fades to black and doesn't progress. I managed to fix the first one (after 5 tries), but the 2nd one I've tried 6 times now and it continues to crash preventing further progress. My game is basically bricked.

Other problems being reported:
- LOST SAVE FILES! People are putting in 30+ hours and then mysteriously losing their progress.
- Stuttering cinematics which are painfully slowed down and cannot be skipped.
- Audio cutting in and out.
- Tons of problems with DLC.
- DX11 problems right off the bat.

The game is a bad console port and was released prematurely on the PC. It's a great game, don't get me wrong, but save yourself the time and frustration.

Actually its don't get this game for PC on Steam I've had zero issues with non-Steam versions aside from the fact that DX11 is heavily unoptimized.

Even DX9 is unoptimised. The way I see it is, if you have a system that should be able to handle DX11, then it overpowers the problems in DX9. But if your target was DX9 in the first place, then you get similar problems.

Heh, no pun intended but a good catch. Have some rep for temporarily easing my frustration.

I've had no issues at all, other then DX11 running poorly, and you honestly should have done more research before posting things that just are not true.

The lost save issue is on the 360, not the PC. I thought I saw some posts about PC users losing their saves, but this only ocurred for cloud saves, and if it was rampant, there would be many more posts about it.

Stuttering in the game is caused by the DX11 issues. If you are stuttering during cutscenes with DX11 off, then it's an issue on your end; my game never stutters with DX11 off.

The audio also works perfectly for me, with the exception of the Nvidia logo, and I think that was done on purpose, like the way the Riddler transmissions are.

No idea what you mean by 'Tons of Progress on DLC'... your only legitimate gripe is the DX11 problem (which is being fixed).

It's happening on the PC as well. The official technical forums are full of posts reporting this.

The game runs fine for me. It's the cinematics which are borked, and this is on DX9. I'm not the only one, either.

Dx11 isn't required to play the game. The game looks and runs just fine without it.

Based on what some people here think, Metro 2033 is completely broken and is a bad PC game, too. Because MOST GPUs are crushed when you try and run with DX11 enabled on high settings. Hell, even a GTX590 fails to maintain 60fps at 1080P with 4xAA and DX11. Must be a crappy console port, then.

DX11 adds a smattering of tesselated images... you can see them if you know exactly what to look for - and even then it's nothing to write home about. Tessellation has turned out to be a bit of a bust in general.

Rocksteady just should not have underestimated the average PC gamer's predilection to look at a glass of water and see that it's half empty. "But DX11 was promised!" Yup, and it adds next to nothing, just like every other so-called DX11 title.

People waiting for the DX11 patch are nuts. There's virtually zero difference in visuals between DX9 and DX11. But, oh well, I guess if it makes people feel good.

The DX11 stuff is minor as far as I'm concerned. I just want to be able to advance past the Joker battle without the game going into an infinite load state. Thankfully I haven't lost any save files but I truly feel sorry for those people that this has happened to.

Gonna try re-loading and see if that fixes the problem. It was a Steam game so that'll take another 4 hours or so.

The only issues I've had is DX11 not working right.

Game runs great for me on DX9 with graphics settings on max, physx on Normal and AA set to 8x CSAA with only very minimal stutter when I'm flying through the city at high speeds.

Course I have a really good system.

Specs:
GTX 80 DirectCU II OC'd
Intel core i7 930 OC@ 4.2GHz
6GB DDR3 RAM
Windows 7 64bit
875W PSU
Driver Version 285.79
