Really, who buys firewood?

I'm curious. I have chopped fire wood and seen the mills around but have not found anyone who actually buys it?

I'm past this point on my current character(around 18-19K in gold atm) but would be handy for future characters.

Pretty sure I sold some firewood to one of the people around the mill in Riverwood back when I was starving for gold.

Someone with a little money that doesn't feel like chopping it up themselves I suppose.

The wood is chopped, loaded into carts, and shipped to cities that do not have access to trees, such as Windhelm or Solitude. Being firewood, and this being a cold country, big fires are a must. Readily cut firewood is in constant demand.

Other towns, like Falkreath, have their own wood-cutting operations. They may not have enough workers to cut all of it, so other may help for a sum of money.

Don't SELL it! Only chop a small supply, THEN leave it near the armorer in the city you're working out of (for now I'm using Whiterun mostly) THEN USE the firewood to repair LONG BOWS and boost your Smithing, as well as adding to the value of the bows when you sell them.

I've sold fire wood to the Breton merchant in Whiterun.

Just FYI, Chopping wood is part of an achievement, (just 1 log's worth though)

Wow, I'm such a noob.

So once it goes into your inventory you can just sell it to random general store people? /facepalm!

I figured they needed a special option or something! Oh well something to remember on my next play through.

there is some NPC that buy it specifically, they pay 5g each i think. its usual the NPC that runs the mill, they may ask you to cut some if you chat to them a bit.

Hulda at the Bannered Mare in Whiterun will buy your firewood for 5g a piece.

Seems like a terrible way to earn a living if you're Dragonborn, however.
