Bump, because I have the same question. I've seen plugins for skse for v1.3, but not skse itself.

Can someone explain what SKSE (Skyrim Script Extender) does exactly? I've done a few online searches, but they only discuss the mod being used with something called a Creation Kit (which isn't available).
What kind of game mod is this? |

It allows for more advanced mods to be made and used based on what I've experienced with the past games. The previous few games, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and New Vegas, all had their own script extender made.

The latest version of the SKSE can be found here.
http://skse.silverlock.org/ Even knowing that, I think I must be a no0b because I can't understand what I need to do to get it to work without seeing the warning message the minute I open my items menu (btw I've installed SkyUI using the Nexus Mod Manager): **************************** WARNING. SkyUI could not detect the required version of the Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) **************************** Can someone who knows please give me the no0b step by step version of how to install the SKSE and get it to work properly. Thanks.

you have to download the newest skse file.
extract its content to the skyrim folder with your exe in it. (launcher, skyrim.exe and the 4gb.exe should all be in the same folder) run the game through Skse first (make sure you have the steam loader.dll) then close skyrim and launch the game normally. |

Ok, I really feel like an idiot now. I saw it was a ".7z" file type but I didn't know that was a zipped extension. I just thought that was some file extension Skyrim used. oops. lol
Downloading 7-zip now (http://www.7-zip.org/) Thanks for the help! |

One last no0b question... How do I get Steam to point to the skse_loader.exe file when I want to run Skyrim or do I have to manually launch the game via the skse_loader.exe myself?

i think you have to run it through the skse_loade.exe ....but if you use the 4GB launcher you don't need to, since the 4GB launcher does load skse if it is in the right directory. If you have a PC with more than 4GB Ram and you don't use the 4GB launcher, than you should use it since it increases the games stability.

Ok, thanks. I just wasn't sure if there was a way to get Steam to point to the skse_loader.exe using the "properties - set launch options" for the game in my Steam Library.
I guess I'll just make a desktop shortcut to the skse_loader.exe file and change the icon for that shortcut to the Skyrim one. |

In steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\ rename SkyrimLauncher.exe to something elsethen rename skse_loader.exe to SkyrimLauncher.exeIt'll probably have to be redone when the games patched but it seems to work. |

Hi,
Yes, if you are using mods that require SKSE (like Sky UI), then unzip the whole zip package into the Skyrim Folder, then whatever desktop shortcut you use to start the game, just right click on it and amend the path so that it points to "skse_loader.exe" , should work fine then |

Is there any word on an updated version of SKSE since the 1.4.27 patch was released? I can't seem to really find much info on it at the moment...
