If they did say anything to the effect of "we will be there" (and I have absolutely no idea why you'd think that, no evidence to that anywhere I have seen other than the wild demands of frothing fans) it meant "we will be there watching".

They had nothing to present. They didn't promise anything. No promises to be broken. Stop whining.

Valve presented plenty of things? Wheatley's "OMGZ I've been nominated for best character speech" As well as Portal 2 nominated for GOTY. I'm sure they were there but didn't win anything to be called on stage. Also I like how conspiracies are floating around now that Whealtey repeated "1..1...1.." What have you done valve!

Valve isn't responsible for any of the rabid bizarreness coming from fans. Fans are.

And yeah, if they were being presented with awards, I'd say, "of course they would say they'd be there". In any award ceremony, you'll have the people nominated present.

I just hope he has not descended into a Howard Hughes-esque madness which hinders Ep3 as much as it furthers it...
