No Network Connection to the Steam Servers

Quote:
"No network connection could be made to the Steam servers. Steam will automatically retry connection until the service becomes available."
Normally this error happens a lot but today it's lasted for more than an hour. I switched to my older profile to see if it was doing the same thing and it wasn't. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue? I've restarted my computer and Steam twice and still nothing's happening. Same error. No friends. It's killing me. Can anyone please help out?

Here is my Steam ID: http://steamcommunity.com/id/monoebot

Same problem here, I can even go on my profile page and see which friends are online, but I can't message any of them and because I'm offline, none of them can message me. Wasn't playing any games when the disconnect occurred.

I'm having this problem, too. I was able to use another steam account and friends list pulled up just fine, but as soon as I try my main account I get this same problem.

Steam down?

Getting the; "No network connection could be made to the Steam servers.." message in my friends list - with L4D2 etc not able to sync with the Cloud or find any games..

And yet it looks like no-one else is having a problem?

Evrything else insternet-wise is working fine for me too..

I'm getting the same thing. The main Steam window says "NO CONNECTION" at the bottom, and I have no connection to the friends list. However, the store and community tabs seem to work.

Yeah I'm having the same problem so you're not alone. No downtime announcement so idk what's up.

EDIT: I tried restarting Steam, logging out and back in, etc. Still not connecting.

Works fine here and I don't see anything out of the ordinary on the stats pages...

Yep I'm having the same problem as well. when I try and launch Modern Warfare 3 it says:

Quote:
Steam was unable to sync your files for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - Multiplayer with the Steam Cloud

If you have played this game from another computer, your game settings and/or progress may not be in sync with what is stored in the Cloud. If you play the game now, you may lose those changes or progress.
I haven't played this on another computer, and I dunno what Steam Cloud is but hell, when you pay $65 for a game, you expect to play it whenever you want, not when Steam tells you you can... Looks like I'm not alone, so I'm going to wait and hopefully this will all blow over.

I was able to fix this problem by deleting ClientRegistry.blob in the Steam folder (C:\Games\Steam).
I'd make a backup just in case or just move it to your desktop.
Worked for me and now I'm back online!

Close steam before doing this...

Hmm. It appears it just resolved itself.
I had tried changing download regions, as well as deleting the clientregistry.blob just in case, but it seems only waiting would fix it.
