It's quite okay to get an idea of the game, but IMO you really should've raised the ingame volume a bit as the music is an essential part of the levels and adds a lot to the 'I IZ SOOO FAAAAST' feeling while playing it. Besides that the music is also pretty cool...

i liked the video, but the one thing you and your viewers can't grasp from the first couple levels is how insanely hard and mind-♥♥♥♥y this game is.

Less talk more play. Set your options before recording. Less cursing, more reviewing. By the way, the "speed" of the music never changes; it's the same tempo throughout. And you must time the jumps right. Takes concentration.
Those are my thoughts throughout your review. |

True I do mess up the tempo/speed rule of music and while I know some of my friends would shoot me for that mistake I'm not a musicians and therefore am allowed to make human mistakes =P. Final note I curse because they are words used to describe a situation and are in no way more offense nor is the lack of their use any more redeeming in terms of situation than me using something in there place. (Youtube - Stephan Fry on Swearing). Thanks for the suggestions but a lot of it has to do with what personality people are attracted to and what personality I have. Not everyone will like who I am but I have no reason or desire to change the way I act or talk. Nor do I wish to do reviews because first impressions require me not to beat the game and also let me talk on a personal level rather than a business level. |

Fair enough, but my point on the "less talk more play" comment was more on the lines of you introducing yourself, the game, how to get the game, and things like that. I don't think it takes almost two minutes to do that (added on to the time it takes to go through your title cards--they are annoying in movies and even more so when you have a short video of something). My point is, get to the point. Get to the heart of the matter.
The cursing, while understandable, is simply unprofessional. You sound professional throughout the video (most people sound echo-y and are just bad--I'm sure you've spent money on good headsets, which is great; more power to you because it actually, er, shows). yet throw in a couple swear-words and it just hurts the image. Finally, I say review because, to me, that's what a review is. It's an impression of a game. First, middle, or last, to me a review is an impression. These are my opinions, and are honest-to-goodness critiques. Otherwise, I think you're onto something. Oh, and one more thing: Use the controller. I think it may be a bit easier (although, admittedly I never used the keyboard). PS: I think "tempo" and "speed" mean the same thing (actually, "tempo" is Italian for "time", but it means the speed, or timing, of music, so I'm sort of right). I was referring that the tempo of the music remains the same be you "HYPER", "SUPER", "ULTRA", or "EXTRA". And, come to think of it, CommanderVideo's run speed never changes, either.

O yeah the intro and all that is really just a copy of how I see other people do the same style of series. I don't really know if it all really needed but some people like it others don't it's personal preference there (and hey it adds length and who doesn't love that! =P).
True to some people the cursing will be unprofessional and while I regret the loss of those viewers it is just a part of who I am and while I could take the time to make sure I don't do it I feel that I'd take away part of the show that is my personality. It's hard to explain. I am glad the sound is noticeably better than others I did spend money on an actual studio mic because I know how annoying it can be to try to listen to bad quality audio (and I do some stuff in post). So I am glad people like it. As for the review yeah to some it is the same just to me if I see "review" I always believe that the person has played through the game completely and did everything on a good difficulty to really be able to talk about it and being a college student I just don't have the time to do so. I do hope I don't come off nasty in these post I really am taking all feed back to heart and thinking of ways to improve the show I just know how typed word comes of different rather than spoken. I am grateful for the feedback so thank you very much for it! p.s I suck at music haha |

Finished watching it right now. You having low volume was not very good, indeed. Being a first impression and all, i can understand you could not foresee the music is such a huge player in that game, but after you noticed it, you could have raised it.
I liked your impressions on it, it was a nice "demo" of the game, but as mentioned here, the viewers will not witness how amazingly hard this game can be. Interesting comparison to Mirror's Edge, i think its quite valid. About the swearing thing, i personally dont mind, and think its normal. Some people might find it either offensive or unprofessional, like the user above, but i think its fine and sometimes it would feel unnatural and odd to avoid saying them. Many many props for mentioning the Humble Indie Bundle, they are awesome. Ah, and before i forget, your intro might be a bit too long indeed. I counted 10 seconds, not sure if its too big. I think its good to have one tough, its a unique thing of yours. Intros are a good way of distinguishing yourself. |

You and the other poster are both correct in that having the music low did hurt the quality of the video but I did learn to do volume editing in post after this one though so now I record at a high volume and buff it down in post to a level that fits better.
It is true that the difficulty can be understated by a first impressions but it is also something I can't really control. The intro is something that everyone has different opinions on and so I'll keep it the way it is for now unless more people say I should cut it down (which I can if I can find the file haha). I <3 the Humble Bundles and the Royal ones too both are a great way for indie companies to get some cash to help them out! |

I think the swearing expresses what I was thinking on way more than one occassion when playing the game. :P
Pity the music isn't loud enough in your video, that's the only thing lacking, IMO. |
