Where is the Steamapps folder?

This PC of mine is running Linux (ubuntu 10.04).

However the Steamapps folder is empty. When I search for a game using nautilus search, i find that the steam has stored the files in:

/proc/3414/cwc...

however the real issue is, the location/symlink keeps changing. so i cant find the same folder the next time i restart my pc.

why do i need to locate this folder? my laptop runs windows 7, i intend to download the files on my PC and then copy paste those in the steamapps folder as its much faster that way.

please help!

The steamapps folder should be at /home/username/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Steam/steamapps. You say that it is completely empty?

Is Steam installed on your Linux system through WINE, or is it being run from the Windows installation's drive?

yup thats the steamapps folder but its empty right now. the /proc/3414/cwc/.../c:/program files/...steamapps is where the files are located.

i installed through wine. winetricks more specifically.

i didnt install it via playonlinux though.

If you installed through Winetricks, the folder should actually be at /home/username/.local/share/wineprefixes/steam/drive_c/Program Files/Steam/steamapps. Does that folder exist, and are the files there?

No problem.
I installed Steam through Winetricks as well, so I have that path memorized.
Now, if only VALVe would release a Linux-native version of Steam.....

True. Even though the steam and ubuntu communities are very active, all this diy stuff can get a bit frustrating at times.
