Whoever made the long staircases
EDIT:
If you're having problems using Spacebar, try using a different key (or a XBOX 360 controller, which is even easier). After making this change, I was able to finally move on from 1-11 to 3-11; it is that big of a difference. Last edited by Kurask: 02-20-2012 at 07:50 PM. |

I do. Is it easier to press one of those button 10 times quickly than it is spacebar?

My wireless Xbox controller works fine with the game.
And I really recommend to play it with a gamepad, especially the staircases are a lot easier then. |

Thank you very much Phoenix. Beat Odyssey the first time using a controller. It really does make staircases 100x easier x.x
I recommend everyone to use one now, and yes it works as long as you plugged it in before the game started (as it does for most other games too). |

I just use J for jump and H for kick. Much easier to press repeatedly and fast, especially if you have a keyboard where the space key sucks.

I won't spend 60 dollars to win in a 2 dollar game.
Staircases are unfun, uninstalled at 1-7 after trying for hours ![]() Thank god it was included in the humblebundle and I didn't buy it for itself. Back to supermeatboy. |

I recommend wired for PC. Most of the PC USB receivers for wireless 360 controllers I've seen tend to bust a circuit and catch fire... I don't recommend a wireless 360 controller for PC use for that reason.
Besides, you would end up paying near 60 for a wireless, add 20 more for the possibly faulty receiver. Just look for an OEM 360 wired controller for around 40, or you can get a cheaper off-brand, sometimes around 25 bucks. As long as you treat your controllers well, the off-brand will work out fine. Just don't chuck it at the wall if you can't get past a certain level on here. You can use the controllers for more than just Bit Trip Runner. I use mine for Super Meat Boy, Bastion, Recettear, Cave Story+, And Yet It Moves, and plenty other games. It doesn't have to be only for this game. Heck, I don't even own a 360. I only got my controller to play some of my PC games more comfortably. Edit: to rta if he happens to see this thread again: On a base level, to compare a Logitech gamepad to the 360 pad (I have a Logitech pad as well), it's more out of the box friendly from the get-go. I couldn't get a lot of my PC games to map correctly to my Logitech. However, there is a difference on some other programs between an OEM Microsoft 360 pad and an off-brand (MadCatz 360 controller for example) in which the OEM controller will have better R/T trigger recognition support than the MadCatz controller. I'm confused about people thinking this is something to do with using a keyboard over a controller. I never had any problem with staircases; once you get a hold of the timing required to do quick jumps, they're one of the easiest obstacles in the game (although I too had your problem with them early on).
The amazing thing about this game is how levels which seem absolutely impossible to do seem ludicrously easy the more you progress through the game. Odyssey took me so many attempts to get through and seemed so long that I thought it was impossible to get through (and most of the people on my friends list stopped playing at that level too, judging by the highscores), but now that I'm on the third world, Odyssey seems so easy. I even went through and got all the golds for fun. If you get further in the game, you'll wonder what your problem with staircases ever was. |

I think playing with the NUMPAD works quite well. Still having problems to beat 1-11, though.
Horrible level... way too long...

Yep...1-11 seems to be where I get tapped out.
Having to restart the whole level is a little too unforgiving for my tastes in entertainment. I wonder if the simplicity of the beginning of 1-11 makes it seem more tedious to replay. |
