Official, yes, but not really that official.. what I mean is, see how a Moderator then points to a thread for references, with the wording:
Quote:
Sure, they just wanted to say that the current references are not indicative of anything yet, to let the community cool off, but... there comes the Moderator not letting it die entirely. So, it's too early and it wasn't their idea to stir up things like this, but it's also true that the time for HL3 has come. Why else would Valve allow a Moderator to maintain a thread like that ? As much as I hate waiting, it won't be long now, and even if it is long, I know Valve has a commitment to quality, so I'll wait. But there are definitely signs that HL3 will be released next year: - Valve teases'something with a three in it' As has been argued many times before, there is practically only one game that fits with Valve's developing schedule and/or public expectations. Unless it's a new title, that for some reason has a "three" in it. - Valve Releases Wheatley’s VGA 2011 “Character Of The Year” Never-Aired Acceptance Short – Hints Towards A Secret Valve Single-Player Game To Be Released In 2012? The Wheatley acceptance speech for the award he didn't win is telling - "Well, maybe next year.". As the article very well says, no award has ever been given to a multiplayer only character, so that leaves out Dota 2, CS: GO, and any eventual Left 4 Dead 3, or even Team Fortress 3 (but I think Valve already said they weren't going to release any TF sequel anytime soon). What does that leaves us with ? HL2: EP3 or HL3 or Portal 3, but, while that is the most immediate conclusion you can take from the video, it doesn't seem likely Valve would release a third Portal game so soon. Given that the Half-Life universe and the Portal universe are connected, it makes perfect sense to interpret that as next year Half-Life 2: Episode 3 or Half-Life 3 will eventually have a nominated candidate for the award. Oh, as news from today, Valve has been added to the main conference sessions of Game Developers Conference 2012. They will be talking about: Quote:

This MAY be a coincidence, but "David Hassen" is an anagram of "Dad Vanishes". More trolling by the author IMO.

If you think about it, valve release something roughly every year or so. Portal and Left 4 Dead have been the most recent, so its likely they wont get a sequel for a good while. After CS:GO, its likely the next franchise to be released will be half life. It could be TF2, but I doubt it, because its constantly getting updated, just went free to play and is as strong as ever. So my assumption is HL(ep)3 will be 2013 (a year after CS:GO).
I could be wrong though, who knows, maybe Valve have a new franchise under their skin. Maybe we'll see a new game with a new engine, or maybe half life (ep) 3 will use a new engine. (Source Engine 2?) lol |

No, just quote the whole sentence I wrote, you know perfectly what I meant. When a Moderator who's been around since 2003 gets to open and maintain a thread about Half-Life 3 hints and comes to this thread after the developer, keeping the topic alive by redirecting us to that thread, there is some contradiction in terms about what is official, don't you think ?

Hey, someone deleted the Moderator's post (was post #40) that I quoted and linked to above in my post #47... weird things are happening. They really don't want to hype anything to do with Half-Life at all for now it seems...

Oh really? And people hate when they are being ignored - that's what you've successfully been doing for the last four years. Not a single piece of info and you don't even seem to care. If there's no games being currently developed in HL series then tell people about it. If yes, then at least share some info about the project. Now, ignoring people in this case - that is a real trolling.
Yeah, thanks! |

I just registered to talk about black aperture sourcecode a bit more:
Note how it says "DTD HTML 72.76". Why 72.76, that's rather odd. Now, convert those numbers to Hex (48 and 4C) and look them up in the "ISO-8859-1"-charset table which is also mentioned on the page and you get "HL", now what could that stand for?
