Game wont start

Click play
My profile thing in the corner goes green to indicate I'm playing a game
Goes back to blue approx 5 seconds later without any sign of the game actually launching in any capacity

I've got the same problem. The game used to work but when I tried to start it now nothing happens. A process gets created (verifiable through the task manager) but it dies after a few seconds. Said process initially uses about 256MB but all it seems to do is deallocate memory before it dies. The game used to work during the summer sale. I've got the achievement back then. The only things changed since then are driver updates and I bought the Elves & Dwarves expansion.

I had problems with Rise of Immortals, too. At first I couldn't log in. That problem was fixed the next day but then I still couldn't get past the next screen (can't remember what it was). Maybe I should avoid all Petroglyph games for the future. Nothing but problems...

Same is happening to me too. Reinstalled the stuff in the redist folder and verified the files with no luck.

Aaaand me too. Games used to work fine, tried loading up for the christmas shenanigans and having the exact same problem.

I've tried running as Administrator, and all different compatibility settings, none made any difference. Steam shows me as playing the game for a few seconds, then it's gone, and no game is appearing.

Same here, Win 64-bit Enterprise, game won't start, my other 150 odd Steam games are fine! ;-)

Please fix ASAP so I can get the winter achievement.

Windows 7 32 bit, just bought it today in the sale. I've never had a game that wouldn't start at all before. I'm quite excited!

Yep, same here, nothing happens (and I have played the game on this machine before). I'm on XP.

Just purchased with map pack and d&e expansion. Exact same problem for me also.

XPsp3 fully up to date. Intel Q6600, GeForce GTS-250, 2GB Ram.

All my other 100+ steam games are working just fine...
