Failed to find steam

Hello. I just bought and installed this game but when i try to star it it just says "Failed to find steam". Does any one know how to fix this. Im in Win 7 64bit

I'm having the same exact error with the game "Just Cause 1"

Any help would be appreciated!

I managed to find a fix... just folow this guide... It should work for Just Cause 1 as well..

I had the same problem and now it says the game is unavailable and I have no idea how to fix it

I had the same issue and just restarted steam in online mode and it worked.

Had this "Failed to find Steam" problem with "Civilization IV", due to replacing C: drive, and restoring my windows drive from a backup. (My Steam was on D: though).
Solution was simple.

Go to: http://store.steampowered.com/about/
Click on the "Install Steam Now". (Even though you may already have it!)
Click Run (no need to save).
When the dialog comes up, click "Repair".
The Installer will fix any registry issues (which I seemed to have).
It will also to re-update any Steam files when it starts up.
My login was still intact, and all games were not affected.
"Civilization IV" started without any problems after that.

I had the same problem and the above solution worked like a charm. I want to mention tho that if the installer seems to pause or get stuck for a long time while repairing, just be patient, it will eventually finish.
