Windows 8 and GFWL (If GFWL isn't working for you, check here)

If you are running Windows 8 and your game doesn't even show GFWL at all no matter what you do, here's how to fix it.

Delete all previous installations of GFWL and clean the registry. (ccleaner is a good program that will do this)
Download gfwlivesetupmin.exe (28 Mb), from HERE
Install the client and run it. It will ask you to download an update (624 Kb) called gfwlivesetup.exe by clicking the requested link. Install it.
Launch GFWLive.exe from C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games for Windows - LIVE\Client.
Launch Batman: Arkham City and the Home button should work now, create or sign into an account and play.

Also enable Microsoft Update in Windows 8 and update the OS.

Windows 8 is nothing special... I got it on my laptop it's Win 7 with their phone UI... It's so stupid...

It might not look much different, but the main thing that's different is that it uses far less ram and requires far lower hardware specs to run. Which means it's good for Laptops and Tablets. If you're running a high-spec computer, you probably wont notice much difference, but it's still there.

So if you want to squeeze every bit of power out of your rig, it will be good. Right now, however, Win8 isn't running all games very well. Just like this thread shows. I've switched back to Win7 because of it. But I do prefer Win8.

Bumping this because this fix works with the W8 Consumer Preview.

Odd that you have to download an old version to get it to work. The installer for the newest version is botched or something?

I just played a few hours, closed it and opened it realizing that I had never signed in to GFWL so no saves.

After waiting months just for my slow internet to download the 16GBs I might just wait longer until the next patch comes out so I hopefully don't risk getting that save bug that a lot of people are getting.
