Orange Box - TF2 Premium question

I'm planning on gifting some copies of Orange Box to my friends so their accounts become premium, but I'm not sure. Does purchasing Orange Box via Steam or being gifted a Steam-bought copy of it make your TF2 account premium?

Both. It also comes with the Proof of Purchase hat. =)

i want that hat so much for a WW2 Pyro ;/ but i never be able to get it anyways
