The Orange Box Gift: TF2 Question

I've received an item somehow called

Holiday Sale 2011 Gift: The Orange Box

After some time I completed my second objective for this event. I don't how I managed to get it, so I guess every objective gives a random prize (right?). But The Orange Box contains Team Fortress 2, which arises a simple question...

Does it give premium status, or free to play? Because the box would really be multi-player useless if it doesn't give premium...

I bought the Orange Box a while back and it is premium.

Buying the Orange Box is one way to get premium TF2, so a gifted Orange Box would work the same.
