scanning for steam games updates????

I just installed steam on my new pc that just got back from being fixed.But when I click install on ANY game I get this box that says.Scanning for steam games updates.What the hell???

I got this when trying to play a game last night. I simply closed and restarted Steam and that fixed the issue.

Yeah I searched it up found a recent post that said restart steam.I did that and now it works .I'm as happy as heavy nomming on a sandvich :3.

Instead of making a new topic, I'll simply resurrect this one. I'm having the same problem as OP, except, as fyemo said, the solution isn't working. Exiting steam did nothing. What's going on?

I have the same problem. Can't start any game, wow.

Restarting Steam makes no change. What now?

Anyways my games are starting now again. Seems restarting Steam like 5 times and waiting some hours is fixing this.

Didnt wait any hours, just instead of restarting ( that dont help) i went to settings and choosed to participate in Beta, restarted steam and then went to settings again and choose not top participate in beta. One more restart and Wholaa...
