Frontier Justice Crits

It's a very good weapon only if you know how to aim. Sometimes I get very good sentry spots like the one on top of that truck on goldrush, I manage to get about 12-14 kills, but when it gets killed I have about 28 crits on my shotgun. Problem is, I get killed fast and I don't get a chance even to use one of my crits.

Now to you guys, when you have crits on your shotgun, let's say about... 10, do you guys just spam it away, or do you go close to your enemey and try to do the full damage?

Meatshots. Can take anyone* down in one or two meatshots. You have to ambush in order to get two good ones in, if you just run in you'll have to pick bullets, bombs, and rockets out of your teeth.

*except an overhealed heavy, which takes 3

I try and set up another Sentry real quick (on Defense) and send everyone who tries to get close to it "Home to their MAMA in a BOX!"

I once got ~54 Frontier Justice crits in one life (Over 2 Sentries)

Got a kill with every 2-3 shots, and died with ~10 left.

I lol'd SO HARD.

i have the same problem
like i gain those crits and i have no idea how to use them

i cant get close to demomen/soldiers since they blow me up in 2 random shots before i can even get close

and i cant get to other classes, since scouts run faster/double jump, etc,

heavies just cut me apart if i try to shotgun them-any ideas?

Try flanking people.

Critical hits don't have damage falloff. As such, I find it better to stay a good distance away from people, so that their guns suffer from falloff while I'm hammering them for a good 54 to 108 damage with every shot.

When you have lots of revenge crits, why would you get close to a Soldier and risk dying in under a second? It'll take at least two shots to kill him, so you might as well do it at a range where you can avoid his rockets.

If you ever get above 10 revenge crits, the other team's doing something terribly wrong.

when i play engy, i avoid fighting more than one enemy. that means even with the regular shotty i use three shots at a time usually (unless i miss a lot), so the lowered clip size is no downside to me. if theres no downside, i dont rely on an upside. what i mean is, since theres no reason not to use the FJ for me, i dont worry about capitalizing on it so when i get the crits, my playstyle remains unchanged. I still go for one enemy at a time with an aggressive, but not reckless, mindset. So I dont worry about losing a lot of crits. I use em when i have em and dont care when i dont have em.

Critical hits don't have damage falloff, no, but shotguns have massive spread.

You probably won't be sniping people with a shotgun, crits or no.

You can kill light classes in 2-4 hits in medium range if you are accurate enough. (What I mean is in gorge, the containers right infront of the BLU spawn, where the small health pack is, you can do that to the surrounding area. How did I get up there? Sentry jump.)

FJ's crits are borderline OP, there is no reason not to use this weapon

Well, besides the fact that it only has three shells in it's clip. That's a pretty big reason to choose the stock over it. Also, the upside doesn't take effect until your Sentry is destroyed and you're still alive. People who'd like to keep their Sentry alive as long as possible will go with the stock or Pomson, and Commando Engineers will be rocking the stock or Widowmaker.

What Kopikatsu said. As people get better, they stop mindlessly suiciding to your sentry over and over again, which means less FJ crits. A three-shell shotgun is very painful.

The key is mid-range aim. If you can hit 40s and 60s at mid range, you're set. 42-ish is enough to one-shot a Scout; 50 drops a Medic. Don't bother getting into point-blank range unless you see a clear opening.
