I had the same problem, the game works fine if you go to the game directory and launch the game manually from there rather than using the launcher in steam. I haven't found out a better fix for this yet.

Does trine.exe give you an error when you run it from the game folder? It should, and that will help us figure out what's going on. PhysX error means you'll need to get PhysX working properly, others could include DirectX (d3dx9_38.dll).

Hmm sorry to hear. This can get difficult then. Here's a bunch of things to try:
- running in Windowed mode (untick Fullscreen in the Launcher somewhere) - turn down the graphics settings - disable Sounds altogether - disable Videos altogether - enable V-sync - disable ATI Catalyst AI (and rebooting) - disable MSI Afterburner and other motherboard-bundled software - update to latest Java (long shot) - check the AV software - it could be stopping the game from launching (try to add an exception for trine.exe or so) __________________ // Joel, Frozenbyte team, developers of Trine, Trine 2, Shadowgrounds & SG Survivor - Follow us on Twitter |

- running in Windowed mode (untick Fullscreen in the Launcher somewhere) - turn down the graphics settings - disable Sounds altogether - disable Videos altogether - update to latest Java (long shot) - enable V-sync Now all of this, im not sure of how to disable it: - disable ATI Catalyst AI (and rebooting) - disable MSI Afterburner and other motherboard-bundled software - check the AV software |

I might suspect the AV software... what program are you using? There's been a lot of trouble with NOD32 (but it's reasonably easy to get it working thoough).
In basically all AV software you can open it and find some Programs tab or such, and add the trine2_32bit.exe to the exceptions list. This should prevent the AV software from trying to stop the launching... Edit: Also... You could try placing the PhysX dlls in the game dir, and see if that "helps"... I wonder if the PhysX installation is actually good, because sometimes the drivers just mess things up and don't get installed properly... With the dlls in the folder it might work. You can find them at e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\PhysX\Engine\v2.8.3\ so just copy them to the Trine folder and see what happens... __________________ // Joel, Frozenbyte team, developers of Trine, Trine 2, Shadowgrounds & SG Survivor - Follow us on Twitter Last edited by JoelFB: 01-02-2012 at 12:24 PM. |

Well, I tried putting the dll in the game file, but nothing happened. Also, i own trine not trine 2, so i dont know how the exe is called, and i do have NOD32.

If you have NOD32 that means it sees Trine.exe as an unidentified virus, which it isn't actually. So when you install trine, nod32 prevents trine.exe from being created, so you probably don't even have the exe in your trine folder in steam.
- You need to disable the AMON module, at least for the time you want to play. - Next, go to your library in steam, select trine, right click, properties, third tab (local files) and you have the option to check file integrity or something. This will install the missing trine.exe file - Next go to ANOM settings in NOD32, tab 4, click add , select the Trine.exe file and exclude it from future searches. - You can next turn on the AMON module and all should work ![]() You should manage to do all this, it worked for me. Post here and tell me if that helped. (Oh, and if anyone has similar problems with trine 2, it probably should work also, if you're missing the exe file from the Trine folder) |
