dragon with no soul

Killed a dragon but it didn't go through the fiery sequence and give me his soul....is this something normal or a glitch? Don't really need it because I seem to be a dragon magnet and have 9 ro 10 souls waiting on words to unlock.

I think a respawn kill will not give you credit for the soul.
Probably intentional to prevent farming one spot.

Yeah, I remember that happening once or twice. I have no idea why it happens, I always figured it was a glitch and shrugged it off. Not only are there tons of random encounters, but almost every single area or dungeon with a World Wall has a dragon outside or around it.

That's why I wish dragon souls could be converted into something else, like more perk points, because they become useless pretty quick, particularly if you've already found all of the words.

This used to happen to me by the dragon roosting sites, they gave 1 soul then the respawned ones gave none, now it's haphazard though, sometimes I get one, sometimes I don't

i think god mode prevents you from acquiring dragon souls, if that helps.

It's just a glitch. Also it will be more likely to happen if you have the horse Shadowmere. I do not know if there is a fix.

The dragon doesn't decompose until it comes to a full rest. Most likely you've killed it in such a situation whereby the physics engine thinks a part of the body is falling or moving. Happens most often if you kill them on hills or over water.

yes he was on the side of a hill....and later while strolling down the street in Whiterun the music ramped up and I get this "dragon soul absorbed" message"....so must have been the physics engine catching up with itself. Some wierd things definately happen in this game
