Lag Comp fix Walkthrough !!!
If you don't want to deal with the lag comp it is a pretty easy workaround !!
1. Yes the matchmaking does indeed suck only if you hop into a a lobby and wait for it to pick you a match. That is your first mistake. 2. What everyone needs to do is watch the ping in the TOP RIGHT CORNER. It starts at 50ms then 75ms and so on. It does scan pretty rapidly. 3. What everyone needs to do is when it goes from 75 - 100 ( i'm more stubborn I do it between 50 - 75 ) is simply back out and keep retrying till it finds you a lower ping lobby. Now yes it does sometimes take 10 attempts but it really dosent take that long and its better than trying to play in the poor p2p matchmaking it normally does. For example if you let it do it's thing 95% of the times it will put you in a 125-150 lobby. Not so awesome MW3 experience. Trust me on this I have done this since MW2 and I do not deal with lag. No I am not in anyway someone who benefits from this lag comp with a lower end pc I have a custom built SLI Rig that can easily get an avg low of 90 fps in BF3 on ultra and my net speed is 50 down and 10 up. Now if you are in a lower ping server and say you are floating around the 3 bar connection then its prob you net speed. If you have great connection (5 bars) and everyone else is good connection wise then it's your system and you need more beef. Now maybe 1 out of 30 matches yes you will get that guy with 1 or 2 bars and it usually only will effect him and just about all times will leave pretty quick. Trust me on this I have a little over 300hrs in multi and have not dealt with this lag comp issue 1 bit. |

There are 4 bars with a range of 100ms each. A close combat fight of one 3 bars vs 4 bars is a huge disadvantage. +100ms is not condition for an online FPS...at my frequented COD 4 servers an user with +100ms ping was automatically kicked. Here all I got is +100ms latency in mach mocking system...
And it really don't feel like a +200ms latency at all, I can be at 3 meters from an crouch, stopped enemy. Shooting, aimming it for almost 2 seconds, they he suddenly rotate and I die. At the killcam I see me don't shooting at all or he moving...it feels like the p2p systems apart from the +200ms latency have HUGE lags of 1-2 seconds sometimes. OFFICIAL RANKED SERVERS NOW! Btw...I suppose there is noway to activate the lagometer command on MW3 neither...I'm seriously starting to regret my buy...planing to go back to COD4. Hey I am all for ranked dedi servers.. Do it the way I told aboveand just about all the time you will have 5 bars, if not its your net speed or possibly a connection issue somewhere.

I did try the lag o meter but it didnt take to it in the config file but if you run anything in monitor your frames and see odd drops in your frames , taking it that your system has no issues holding the locked 91.7 capped frames. Then your getting lag.. I did test this in the random iw throw me in any crappy match system and I dipped a few times down below 40..lmao.. Net lag. This is irrelevant, even if it passes 150 ms it still considers all the other low pings it found, this is proven and also the devs themselfs said it so.

You are so very wrong little man. If you try it you will notice it does find lower ping matches and skips em, give it a few attempts and BAM you will be in a low ping lobby lag free. LOW ping = no lag. Yes every now and then someone on the other side of the globe from you will get in the lobby and 9/10 the lag is only bad on his end and will leave..

i can only agree with op... i am always doing the same thing like him, quitting the search at 75-100.
1 of 100 matches i get lags. i just quit then... on my steam profile (http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197971554888/) u'll find some moab matches. see how smooth and lag-free i can play, with good hit-reg too, and all this with a pc above average and good inet connection... If this operates like MW2 did then repeatedly backing out like this will eventually force you to host.
While being host was a plus in MW2, it may not be in MW3.

a lot of players seem not to know anything about ping. in all the games i play/played with dedicated servers there are ALWAYS players with pings from 200 to 400 in every match. and a lot of them didn't just begin with the game when i see their ranks....
in cod1, my first fps, i learned a good ping is from 30 to 50. everything above isn't optimal... |

I set my max ping in the config_mp file to 125 max. This stops me from having to watch for it to go over 125ms when searching, it does it automatically. High latency games = lag, it's just common sense. Obviously lower max values would be even better to fight lag, but I set it to 125 as a compromise (so I don't wait FOREVER on the occasions when I play at odd hours for my local area), and this is what I have discovered.
Before, when my config_mp file values were at default (800ms ....SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?!), it would often scan right past the 40-50 "available" low ping games and try to put me into the higher latency games available. When I reset this value to 125ms max, it seems to put me into the <50-75ms games more often, and I rarely even get to 100 or 125. Again, this may be a coincidence, but I don't think it is. Now, I only get actual lag/ screen stutter and lag comp (shoot someone 6-8 times with hitmarkers and no kills) when someone joins after me with terrible 1-2 bar ping. As soon as I notice that, I leave the game or when in a party my party leaves the lobby after the game, and I now rarely fight with actual net-lag nor suffer as much through the no-kills for hitmarker lag comp garbage. This is a good tip in general but doesn't have anything to do with lag compensation.
I always have a 4 bar connection because I avoid >100ms lobbies and I still get games where half the enemy team can see me much earlier than I can see them. If you don't have these issues, then good for you. |
