Something i tried to fix cloud problem

If you can not start your games.... something i did.

Start steam
go to settings (downloads + cloud)
untick "Enable steam cloud synchronization for games which support it"
shut down steam and wait for the exit now to clickable and click it.

open steam

Go explorer and go to your steam folder

Rename the folder "appcache" to what ever you want

shut down steam

and restart steam

Wait for the pictures of your games load. Could take 1 or more mins.

**AGAIN** untick "Enable steam cloud synchronization for games which support it"

Then you can play games.

-------------
if you restart steam you will have to do it all again as well....

--------------------------
DrStinglock tried and worked with this

Disabled the steam cloud.
Exited steam
Renamed appcache
Started steam.
Disabled steam cloud again.

-------------------

For MW3 people you keep going up with your XP even after you restart, not sure about other games..

Nope, just did the exact same process, and TF2 is stuck 'preparing.'

EDIT: the OP edited his original post. Unticking it a second time worked, but there is no one to play with since everyone is having this problem and doesn't know about this workaround.

I'll try, thanks. Same issue here.. Once again the update hasn't been updated properly and or steam cloud is having massive problems.

EDIT:

Finally my games are launching fast again! TF2 used to take up over a minute to boot up.

*whelp*. Valve really needs to do something about the bloody cloud issues.

same for me.

unchecking steam cloud starts the game, but useless if you depend on savegames
