Five X-COM games to choose. Which are the best?
I know UFO Defense is the classic that started it all, but how are the others?
Any recommendations? Thanks! |

UFO Defense all the way. The other 4 are just crappy sequels

UFO Defence is a must, Terror From The Deep feels like a mod for UFO and is pretty much more of the same but under water, great B-movie feel though.
Apocalypse had a mixed reception, loved it myself and my fav of the series. Interceptor, bad X-wing clone, really not very good. Enforcer - Thinking of setting up a petition to get 'X-Com' removed from the title. In short, defiantly go for UFO and Apocalypse, Terror from the Deep if you want more UFO with Victorian Sci-Fi styling, avoid the other two. |

UFO defence and Terror from the Deep are the ones I keep coming back to.
Apocalypse has a pretty good following but I just couldn't get into it. Seems like it may be a pretty deep experience but it was a bit too different for me. Interceptor is more of a space flight thing. Think Wing Commander, only not as good. 4 minutes logged on this one. Enforcer is a 3rd person shooter. 20 minutes logged and don't ever plan on playing again. Most of those 20 minutes were spent staring at the screen in disbelief. |

Terror From the Deep is pretty the same, just more story and harder play.
Apocalypse I like this one a lot as it is newer and still has all nice things. So try this after UFO defense if you won't be in the mood of more of the same. Interceptor and Enforcer... I would not try those. They were weak when they were released as they are not anything XCOM. And now with obsolete graphics. |

Its 2 cents cheaper to buy the 3 XCOM games and drop Interceptor and Enforcer... Should I do this on principle?

X-COM 1 sure. X-COM 2 is too boring with 4x map sizes and "last alien problem". X-COM 3 is very different and another style game. Interceptor - isnt good at all compared to other space sims. Enforcer - good game, but not x-com, i still want sequel to this(watch ending).

I already have Ufo Enemy Unknown (as it was known over here). Terror From the Deep was basically the same with watery aliens and a sadistic difficulty level. I liked Apocalypse, and Interceptor was a bit of a laugh, but it got too frustrating when the tougher enemy ships started showing up.
So with that in mind, I might just pick up Apocalypse for £1. I've owned all of the games at one point, but the only one I have now is the first.
