Is it possible to play the HD version on Steam?

I just got this game through Indie Royale, and besides a Steam key I also got a download-able HD edition.

Does anybody know what the difference is, and if it's possible to play the HD version on Steam?

I'm pretty sure the Steam version is the HD version. I don't even know what the difference is, because the Indie Royale download sizes are about the same, with the HD version actually being a little smaller. Anyway, whatever is on Steam uses 275MB of drive space, and has options for high resolutions.

I think the different versions might just be in reference to the versions available for the iPad or iPhone, where you can apparently choose the lower resolution for less money. And then the PC version (where there is only one option from their store) is just HD. But then again, there are two different PC downloads available from Indie Royale, so I don't know. Maybe they updated it for HD at some point and then made that the standard version.

The Indie Royale facebook page says this about it:

"Press Play’s title comes in two forms. The standard edition is available on Steam, on Desura and as a DRM-free download. The HD version, released for the first time on PC and Mac, includes updated graphics and a completely different level structure and is available on Desura and as a DRM-free download."

I have not played the non HD version, but the HD version looks ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. Let's hope steam gets to update it with the HD graphics!

Edit:
Yup Desura actually has both version on sale int he same page, with the HD version going at $3 more expensive. Dang. I really hope steam gets the HD, I want my achievements. Lol.

@indieroyale: (It has some graphical improvements and level structure changes from the iPad version - no Steam update cos it'll break saves, sorry...)
Somewhat sounds like a lame excuse...

Considering Steam forces updates, if they did this it would force existing users to lose their game! So I'm not sure it's that lame an excuse.

I have to say, I compared the 2 versions and the main difference appeared to be the HD version has a mobile phone style level select and menu system.

Not sure why they couldn't come up with some way to put people at the beginning of the closest level to their current save though. Just a list mapping the old level number and checkpoint or whatever to an equivalent new level number. I guess it's something the lack of recorded knowledge of how well you did towards earning those 3 stars that each casual mobile game seems to insist on these days!

This is just my first impression, but after briefly looking at each the "HD" version looks... different, but not better. It's almost like the HD version is a remixed edition of the game.

For some reason, when selecting 1920x1080 in the HD version, you get black bars on the sides, whereas the version on Steam will fill the frame. Also, the marker's shadow is gone in the HD version. Weird.

I wish they would have just made a sequel instead of this confusion.

It could probably be accomplished as a DLC.

Hopefully, we get the HD version to steam. I don't care abot saves because the new version looks much better and it is worth to play again.

TIP for devs: Maybe we can do something like in BeatHazard: when u start a game U can chose whitch version U wanna play HD or original. The download will be 2x bigger but we get game for everyone.

I suggested this to @indieroyale on twitter and simply got ignored.
