Years 5-7 Controller enabled?

Doesn't say anything about it on the store page.

Is it the same as all previous Lego games in regards to controller setup? If so, I'm happy as all previous games worked fine with my aging Logitech Dual Action pad without the need for any X Box 360 emulator.

Any body who has the game know?
Thanks for any feedback

Thank you

I figured it probably did as all the previous games had the same controller support, but the store page doesn't even mention controller support.

Wouldn't be the first (or probably the last) time the store page had missing/incorrect information.

Thanks again.

I have a retail DVD version of this game and the controller support is the same as in previous LEGO games BUT there is an annoying bug - if you change or modify the controller settings it always resets to default when you launch the game again. Maybe it's fixed for Steam version but I'm mentioning it anyway.

About time. When I get paid again, I may just buy this game.

Sometime.

Just bought the Steam version yesterday, sadly the BUG is in it too

I have to re-bind my controller keys every single time I launch the game. Other than that, it seems to control just the same.
Same setup exactly as Harry Potter years 1-4.

Thanks for the heads up, I may poke around for some config file to maybe set to read only and keep the key binds from being overwritten.

I already tried that - the controls are saved here: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\WB Games\LEGO Harry Potter 2\mappings.dat

The problem is I can't find a way to report this bug or contact developer - I checked the manual and retail box and there's nothing :-(

I just got a reply from someone at Tt games. Found a "Contact Us" link on their web site so I shot Tt, WB Games, and Lego all the same E-Mail.

Good news is Tt actually responded by an actual REAL person
Bad news is Lego and WB Games both shot me back the usual "canned" very un-helpful response.

Tt rep had a few questions for me, one of which was about the mappings.dat file, so hopefully they will get a patch out

I told them that the bug is affecting both Steam AND Retail users.

We'll see, I'll update if I get a response.

In the meantime, the more of you that report this, the better chance they may fix it.

Please send them a polite email describing the problem.

Here is a link to their website contact form:

http://www.ttgames.com/contact/

And do mention it is for Harry Potter Years 5-7 as there is no drop down list to select which game you are E-Mailing them about.

I use 2x Logitech Rumble Pad 2 just fine.

The controls are the same as in all previous LEGO games from Traveller's Tales.

They did however refine the function a bit.
For example, you release your animal with the same button as before, but you retrieve it with the "enter vehicles/character switch" button.

Also, the buyable bonus spells (the red ones) can now get selected manually, instead of waiting for the auto-rotation.

Question I have is, however, are you using the default bindings or are you changing them? If the later, will your button bindings remain after you quit and re-start the game or do they reset back to default?

Yes, my Logitech Dual Action works fine, if I want to just leave everything at default settings. And, yes, the controls are almost identical to previous games.

The problem arises if you change from the default button assignments, the game resets them back to default when you quit the game and re-start it.

I use the default settings.
Have always used them in all previous Lego games.
