How do I install Battlefield 2 without the malware?

I want to check out a couple of mods, but i do not want gamespy to install.

Anyone know a trick to do this? I just want to install the game, not the malware.

Have you tried the steps laid out here. (Do note that I cannot tell if this method prevents Comrade from running or if it prevents it from installing).
