how does the guest pass work

I noticed an option to send a "guest pass" to someone that will allow them to play THE FULL GAME for 3 days - very, very cool Steam...

But how does it work? When I click on "Send Guest Pass" it brings up my inventory and only shows the extra copy of the game I have to send - I don't want to send the game, just the pass for someone to try it out...

Also - do I have only one pass and once I do get rid of the extra copy of the game does that remove the pass as well..?

As far as I know it's actually a Steam client bug, sadly - Steam makes that menu option visible even if you have extra copies only, and no guest passes. If you had any, you would see them in your inventory as well.

Also, guest passes don't always last for 3 days - it varies from game to game. (For instance, Killing Floor guest passes work for 2 days after activation - that information is visible in the inventory as well.)

ahhh - i see said the blind man... that explains things - i was thinking that the pass was an extra for buying the 3 pack or something (PAM is the only one that shows a pass).
