WTF, SOPA/PIPA didn't even pass yet, and it was 3rd party stuff that was pirated, not theirs.

Didn't megaupload have adware or spyware? I can never remember between these sites, it had like a poker ad come up if you wanted to download something. I haven't even been on the site since the early 2000's.

It is no secret that Megaupload was a popular site for the illegal distribution of copyrighted material. But if they were, as they claim, diligent about responding to takedown requests, I hope the end verdict is in their favor.

I won't presume that they were appropriately diligent, however. They did have incentive to shirk the law, ignore requests, or delay enforcement beyond what they should have. That will be for the court to decide.

It'll probably be back.

They do take illegal content down, just by the time they have found one another 5 copies are being uploaded.

Megaupload is actually one of the few sites I know that take down uploads super fast. Takes them a few minutes actually. That's why people have moved to other file hosts...
