I hope this gets fixed soon. I just bought the US Cities DLC for Cities in Motion and it still won't download. Hopefully it'll be fixed by the time I wake up in the morning.

EDIT:

I tried the renaming ClientRegistry.blob and reseting Steam tip. My stuff still won't download. I also tried deleting ClientRegistry.blob and restarting Steam, that didn't work. Finally, I tried all of the other Valve Support tips like changing your download region to different ones, I tried 25, and it still doesn't work.

I just started having this problem when trying to play Left 4 Dead 2. Deleting the ClientRegistry.blob did seem to help after it redownloaded some stuff for Steam. Thanks for the tip!

Still having this problem. Deleting ClientRegistry.blob results in Steam not being able to start. Replacing it results in not being able to Download Skyrim. :/

Had this happen to me as well.

I deleted the clientregistry.blob and reran Steam.exe. It took a few tries before it connected and even then kept giving me an error about not being able to copy SteamNew.exe to Steam.exe because it's in use by another service. So I deleted Steam.exe and renamed SteamNew.exe to Steam.exe.

After that, it was fixed and I could download games again. Yikes.

I can download games already in my library (just confirmed with witcher 2), but I can't download the demo for Kingdoms of Amalur. Could it just be from certain games?

Deleting clientregistry doesn't fix it for me, and i cant even install my game from a disc.

Steam, you're useless sometimes.

Try to run Steam.exe as an administrator. Works fine for me.

Tried everything, and I still can't install a game FROM A DISC, WHY DO I NEED TO FREAKING CONNECT TO A STEAM DL SERVER. FARK.

Lost faith in you steam, absolutely useless.

The same thing is happening to me now. If I delete the clientregistry file then Steam won't even startup saying that it is unavailable. A friend is downloading a game currently on his system, but I try to download the same one and it says that there are no servers setup to provide that content and/or servers are busy. I've tried connecting to different Steam servers all around the world and I get the same error messages. Aggravating.

I'm currently unable to log in either.

I've tried everything and it's not on my end. This is very annoying and needs to be fixed as fast as possible.

Just tried Reckoning demo and got this too. So I went over to EA origin and its downloading pretty fast, at 75% after half hour with crappy aussie net.
