Hi,
Before installing the game, I have right-click it, Properties, Language, and set the control to English. But the game was in French. I changed it to Italian, it patched for some times and then it was in Italian. Moved back to English, it patched again for some time, and it was ... again in French. I then choosed French, it patch for less than a second which is surprising, and indeed the game is still in French. So, I can change the game between different languages, but it looks like French and English versions are both pointing to the same French files (interface, text, and audio). Or maybe it's a bug in the Steam interface. I don't know. I'm French, lives in France, my Steam Interface is set to English, and my Steam Settings Downloads+Cloud is set to UK-London. I have this behaviour only with this particular game. How can I solve my problem ? I'm not even sure if I have to contact Steam or the Developpers. EDIT : ok, this post was helpful. The problem is in the game, not in Steam. You have to modify your local regional settings, from the Control Panel of your computer. An RF:G game installation is made for a set of languages simultaneously. Then the region from your control panel is used by the game to choose 1 of these language. For instance, choosing English or French setting in Steam and installing the game, it will install the same files : in the "Steam" folder, subdirectory "SteamApps\common\red faction guerrilla\build\pc\cache", there are the files "voices_r.vpp_pc" and "voices_r_FR.vpp_pc". But if you install the Italien version you'll have instead the files "voices_r_ES.vpp_pc", "voices_r_FR.vpp_pc" and "voices_r_IT.vpp_pc". Anyway, I have set my steam language setting for RF:G back to English, which installed the English+French version. I tested the game, and it was in French. I then changed several region in the Region control panel (3 places), setting it to UK, launched the game again and for sure the audio, texts and subtitles, all was in English this time. ![]() Of course changing your local region setting has an impact on other stuff, like numbers in MS-Excel. At least, during the time you'll play the game you'll be in the language of your choice. Don't forget to set your local region setting back to normal once you're done with the game. Just edit C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\red faction guerrilla\build\pc\cache\langs.dat
It's a two lines file, I think the first line is the country determining the interface (menu text) language, the second one is the audio language. I had the same issue (ie trying to avoid the French voices even though I live in France). My langs.dat file now reads US EN .. and it works great in english, no need to change anything in the Control Panel. |
