how difficult is it to get all gold medals?

been going through it and I'm barely clearing the levels, let alone get any gold medals.

It is very easy except for a few levels to get gold, only a few levels are a challenge, and not a hard one once you get familiar with the towers and set up your kill zone so it is most efficient. Grinders/Super Grinders and Shredders take a long time to play through though so it is pretty time consuming.

Some of the poison core levels seem impossible to me. Not to win, just to get gold. I fall short by 600 points, play the same way again, except one less gun tower, and I fall short by around 600 points.

Give me an example of a few maps you cannot get gold on and I will pick the one I like the most and make you a video.

I haven't had luck with any of them. Long Descent is easy enough to beat, but I can't seem to get the right combination of towers/upgrades to do it just right. Is a Command tower necessary?

Out of Fuel is horrible, what with the cores RIGHT THERE, next to the entrance. I can't survive that one without losing some cores, never mind getting gold.

I'm doing okay getting gold on many of the other game types, but I hate frozen core.

No, you dont need a command tower on the Long descent, just guns, infernos and temperals, maybe 1 or 2 lasers near the core bit

For Out of Fuel there is a block of 6 spaces just as the aliens enter, place 5 guns and 1 temportal there, and then the 4 spaces near the cores place 4 guns.

I just finished completing all of the gold on every map plus expansions, they're not impossible in the least. A few of the levels are frustrating, but different people feel that way towards different levels. Definitely check out Youtube videos for methods to obtain gold on some levels/modes if you get stuck. After one or two videos you will get a much better idea of what towers are best for different enemies and figure out better placement strategy. My one tip is to place towers where they can attack enemies coming and going so they pull double duty.

Some ways to help achieve Gold

1. Limit your Lv3 towers.
Don't make every tower Lv3! Ideally, the only ones that should go that high are Gun(Cheap), Cannon(Power), Temporal(Utility), and Command(Financing). Only build expensive Lv3 towers when really necessary.

2. Love the interest. Slow your build pace.
Build only as you need it. The idea is that as you have more money available, you gain more interest. It will be the interest that generally determines the difference between gold and silver.
The idea is to hold onto you resources for as long as possible by holding back your builds.

3. Understand how the score is tabulated. Cheaper is better)
All cores are 1,000pts each. In most modes that makes 24,000pts. Second, the sell value of your towers are 75% their purchase price. That means each tower built takes away from your end score.

4.Insure a Command tower is in range of your main killing zones.
Command towers are more effective near where most enemies die. As Command towers are not available in the early levels (except Fully Loaded), you should focus on proper upgrading.

You can probably get gold on most maps with "gimmick" towers though, the bar for just getting gold is pretty low.

Yeah, and at the start of the game when you build, just build 1 tower and wait... until the aliens are close to the entrance before you start building everything else. Adds about 100 more to your resources at the start of the game.

You don't even need to build 1 tower. Just right click on an open spot and game starts.

well, i havent played TD before and i find it fairly difficult to get gold.

just now i finished a level and the last stupid wave had this jerk red speeder that i coudnlt kill after 10 retries and dumping all my money.
then again, i probaly build completely wrong
