Customers only buying from the window.

I'm on my second shop expansion in endless mode. My shop atmosphere is just a little bit darker and more gaudy than balanced in the center. Customers are ONLY buying the items that I place on my two window counters. What's up with that? The things on the table are varied and I change them around a lot, but still nothing.

I had a vending machine at one point and they used that thing often, but I removed it to see if it'd help. It didn't. Generally I'll place the expensive items in the window and the tier-behind items on the store counters, I even have a counter full of books that never gets touched.
