"Connecting Steam account" frozen

Hi, I've been trying to log into Steam for quite a few hours, but nothing happens after the "Connecting Steam account" window appears. I've tried renaming/deleting ClientRegistry.BLOB and deleting everything except /Steamapps/ and Steam.exe, since apparently both methods have worked for some people with the same problem in the past, but it's not working.

I'm not behind a firewall nor under a bandwidth quota.

Have you looked through steam support? maybe an antivirus is blocking steam or your router has dmz enabled

My PC just started having the same issue.. not sure. I was playing earlier today just fine (a couple of hours ago, even) and now it won't log in. First it was telling me "This game is currently not available". Seeing that, I rebooted, same thing. Deleted ClientRegistry.blob, same thing. Doesn't seem to want to connect for some strange reason.

Same problem here. Was in the Steam Beta and they occasionally froze while it sits there.
Was playing Vindictus when this started.

just got off work and having the same problem. Is it down for Skyrim workshop?

Everything is back to normal now, it seems.

Not for me; I tried logging in for the n-th time aaaaand it crashed. At least it's better than just sitting there doing nothing! (No it isn't)

I startedh having this problem when I saw that TF2 had a new patch. It seems to have only taken an hour to fix.

I'm not getting that problem but none of my games are launching. I keep getting the error message "This game is currently unavailable".

I am having this problem too...someone please tell me how to fix this, 90% of my games are through steam ;_;

Ok and now it is working again for some reason. I wish I could help the rest of you.

OMG...So when steam servers suddenly go down when you guys are
playing your games online, something happens in the steam
client and it stops working and you can't always log back
in to continue playing....

Having the same problem for the last couple days. A couple of reboots resolved it yesterday, now it's happening again.
