How do I get rid of lag in Sonic Generations
Hi, I'm sorta new a form posting here so if there is a repeat of this sorry. My question is how can I stop the lag in sonic generations in the cut-scenes. I'm running windows 7 on a nivida geforce 8400 gs with the res at the lowest possible 640 by 480. It runs fine for the most part with the occasional lag but I'm always 2 seconds behind on cut-scenes and the more detail for each clip the more I lag. for example the last one where its all white. I have no lag. Thanks in advance.
I forget to mention two things steam launch options do not work on this game and I'm already using game booster. Last edited by Sonicfan5: 02-08-2012 at 05:28 PM. Reason: forgot a detail |

The game was a console port of the console version, so it's expected for it to be a bit laggy. Honestly I would say that you'd have more fun on it with an Xbox.

It seems your PC is too slow for the cut-scenes. Lowering resolution will not help this.

I don't know what to do - to laugh or to be angry - when people try to launch 2011(!) video game on their ancient 2005-2006 computer and then moan "WHY IT WONT LAUNCH????"
I think there is no way to get rid of lagging - GeForce 8400 is pretty slow video adapter, it doesn't even match minimum system requirements. |

get a $100 dollar card like a 5770/6770 and ull run this max @ 1920x1080 resolution just fine.
i should know. thats what im doing right now and i dont get any slowdowns except in a few areas that were just coded bad. (DAT CHEMICAL ZONE !) FYI. This game takes a modern midrange GPU to actually run pretty smooth. Your card is way inferior.... |

The HD5770/6770 don't have an high power consumption, so those most likely run well even with weak power supplies, but still, can't be too careful with the power supply, it's a really vital part of a PC, and going too cheap with the power supply may result in burning several other components. |

By lag you mean the audio lags behind the video during cut scenes (or vice versa)? I read the prior responses and honestly none of them would explain this problem.
I myself experience no lag during the cut scenes. This is infarct the first I've heard of it. Unfortunately this likely makes finding a solution more remote.

yea the audio goes faster then the video by about 2 seconds I tried recommending it to Sega of America to make some graphic lowering codes for steam but they gave me a generic not on topic response.

I have some good news. I made a costume resolution in Nivida that is 320 by 240. it eliminates 99% of the lag with the exception of cut-scenes. I tested Speed highway and it runs very smooth expect for the drop which still runs fast but is slightly slower then the ps3 version. Which leaves me to one last small question. Since it is a costume resolution I just want to make sure I did it right. My monitor lowest resolution is normally 640 by 480 but I cut it in half to make 320 by 240 with the same fps or hz at 60, Then I left it to automatic and progressive since that was default. My monitor is a "Super LED LG" I think I did it right but I could use a little feedback before a problem can come up. Thanks in advance.

I would but I don't want to buy a whole console for 1 game. I may just upgrade my card some time, the one I have I got for free. I was using a weak Intel one before and The only problem with that screen size is the font is becoming hard to read and it does not help the cut-scenes. Btw thanks for answering my question I hate to break my monitor.
a bit later after I posted this I realsed I made math error with the resolution size so I corrected got annoying with the small font then I made it the size of a 480P youtube video and the speed is the same and I can read the font so I'm good. thanks everyone. I have a laptop from late 2009 and I run it just fine on some high settings, AA on, and Vsync on at 1280 by 720 resolution. It's a demanding game surprisingly
