I couldn't even believe my old crappy GPU could render that much so easily. At first I refused to believe that was actually rendering, and wasn't just a pre-rendered video

Wouldn't say that's the future of gaming. Still quite nice though.

Wish it would let me turn off the film grain. Admittedly, both the SSSS and film grain serve to blur the texturing, and if it let you get rid of them both you'd get to see the model in its full pixelated ugliness, particularly the ears. Even so, I hunger for greater texture definition.

Which of these is the same video?
http://www.youtube.com/results?searc...ace+Scattering Vimeo just doesn't load the actual player for me, most of the time, in order to push play. I don't know if it's because of Adblock Plus or Flashblock, or whatever. |

Considering you're only rendering one object, I wouldn't be surprised if this runs well on most GPUs.

Nope DX10. Consoles don't support it. We'll be enslaved to DX9 until the end of time.
We are currently going on year 6. |

Consoles can't render it, not the future of gaming.

I wouldn't believe my Mobility Radeon 5470 could render something like that at 30 fps until I just witnessed it. Is this what it means to truly optimize for the PC?
Still, rendering only one object. |

It's a single object.. when you add complexity and more objects.. well performance starts taking a major hit. Imagine 10, 20, 30, 40, 100 of these characters in a single scene.. yea. Like I said, it's pretty cool. It's not for gaming though.

Watched it and they're really begging for a spoof with that music. Imagine a fat ugly mug with some epic serious music behind it and it's making some really stupid faces.
