Ok here's my idea; I've searched the Demoman forum threads for this but so far I think I might be the first; what about a sticky launcher that actually STICKS to players?
Me and my friend IRL did a bit of discussion over chat and VOIP on this idea (since he's got some good ideas too), and ultimately we draft up this: [UNNAMED STICKY LAUNCHER] Stickies Stick to players Explosion radius on world and victim 10-20% faster chargeup time* 10% Damage on world if not stuck on player Pyros can airblast them off Only detonatable after 0.8 secs (like Scot.Resistance) Max ammo 6 grenades at a time instead of 8 (don't want any sticky spammers do we?) Dead Ringer spies cannot drop stickies upon feign death *The chargeup time is how long you hold LMB before you fire a sticky at full speed. This weapon is meant to complement the Loch-n-Load, I really like how you have to be dead accurate with the weapon and not rely on splash damage like the default grenade launcher, so I guess it takes ideas from it too. Of course it might need a bit of tweaking from your input and stuff, but what do you think of the idea itself? Maybe (it's a long shot) if it's good enough I might think about submitting this to Steam Workshop! Last edited by Halodude888: 02-13-2012 at 11:49 AM. This has indeed been suggested in the past, both for sticking to enemies and allies.
I don't really see the point; you're going to be trying to kill your enemy as fast as possible so why would you shoot a sticky on them when you could just airburst one on them normally? |

haha I was just about to say it has been suggested (http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...=stick+targets) but the default grenade launcher projectile speeds are pretty slow, and IMHO stickies aren't really designed for 'offensive use'. Previously its meant to be for defense, and my suggestion sort of makes the demoman a bit more proactive rather than camping around its nest of stickies.

Here's the scenario. I have a friend. He gets balanced to the other team. I plonk 6 stickies on him, and get him to run at his medic/group of important players. So much abuse is possible with this.

That is why the pyro can airblast the stickies off of the enemy player.
Also, even if the pyro wasn't around, then it would mean the player being stickied would have to run off so to protect his/her teammates from receiving splash damage- to an extent it also separates the team players from the lone wolves. In TF2, I take lone wolves who rush and not contribute to the team by just killing (unless its Arena) don't usually fare too well on the scoreboards? Ok heres the use: Sticky a person who is playing a heavy. Force them to separate from their team. You don't even need to detonate them, the thought of it detonating and killing his team should drive him off. What you could do is make the stickies not damage the person they're stuck too much, but damage those AROUND the person more. This would mean anyone stuck with one of the bombs would be left on his own (unless a pyro blasted the stickies off).
