I'm curious. Do you think the devs are going to read this?

That's a more reasonable assumption.

I also experience a CTD EVERY time I approach Karthspire while attempting to meet Esbern there. I really hope the developers are listening to these problems. I have had more problems since 1.5 came out. Makes me wonder how many CTD's I have to put up with just to finish the main quest. Skyrim is full of glitch landmines...

I got a workaround for this. Assuming you are on the "Alduin's Wall" quest you can bypass the problematic cell and advance the quest to exactly after you have activated the seal which opens the door to the temple.

Open console and type this:
setstage MQ203 200
coc SkyhavenTemple

Follow Delphine and Esbern up the stairs and they will turn on the lights and do their thing.
Using this fix I could progress through the quest itself, although once it was finished and I left sky haven temple to karthspire with no problem, but from karthspire out to skyrim my game crashed again.

I don't know if this has something to do with the Forsworn questline at Markarth or what, but the place is pretty much inacessible to me in any way.

I made another character and went straight to the main quest line, and I had no issues. It must really be something related to other quests done.

If I go anywhere near the "KarthspireCamp" Cell with my current character the game will CTD. I can recreate the issue everytime by typing "coc KarthspireCamp".

I've tried approaching from different directions and disabling all datafile's/mods but no luck. It sucks too because that entire area is off limits and an essential quest.

Dude, do you know how to use those setstage, coc stuff properly for the dawnguard prophet quest (dawnguard side), it has a location regarding moth priests at dragonbridge, so near the ctd'ing karthspire. I am able to complete the stage up 'till "ask around dragonbridge for the moth priest" using setobjectivecompleted, but the next objective/stage is for me unatainable, it doesn't show up. I used setstage, still no success. or at least, any fix on karthspire crash i don't know about?

How to fix the issue

I had the same bug and fix it as follow :

I first used the console to go directly in the temple using "coc", finish the actual quest and continue through the main quest. BUT 1-the game ALWAYS crashs near sky haven temple even after the quest is completed, 2-some secondary quests in the area are blocked as well and 3-if you bypass the whole quest using “setstage” : Blades' quests are not available (Esbern and Delphine never leave riverwood's inn).

-My solution : bypass stage 48 (the one that corrupts the game)

1-Use a gamesave during "Escort Esbern to Riverwood" and before assignement of objective “Talk to Esbern" : escort him in the inn and leave the room as soon as he started to talk with Delphine, go to Karthspire's camp, kill Forsworns, enter Karthspire and progress to the Blood Seal symbol
2-Open console, type «setstage MQ203 65» (= order Esbern and Delphine to leave the inn).

3- type «prid 00013485»
«moveto player»
«prid 19dfd»
«moveto player"(Esbern and Delphine join you)
4-type «setstage MQ203 140» =resume quest

Your game should not crash during or after the quest and all secondary quests should be available. It didn't have any side effect on other quests for me.
I spent quite a long time to fix this issue, please tell if it worked for you as well !

Enjoy Skyrim !

For @Padley : I didn't manage to fix the karthspire crash after Alduin'wall's quest is completed, it's really not possible. Try to end your quest using "setstage" or use a previous gamesave...

Thumbs up Karthspire CTD Fix

Most Karthspire CTD issues are a result of the game not playing well with non-Vanilla Forsworn armor. To fix the issue rename the following folder \Data\meshes\clothes\forswornarmor to forswornarmor-TEST

Re-load your save and you shouldn't have anymore issues with the Karthspire area.

If you are doing the quest with Aludin resurrecting dragons from dragon mounds and you CTD in Karthspire then do the following:

prid 000FDAE6
disable

This will delete the mound in Karthspire that is causing the CTD bug.

There are two other locations in the game that have trouble with non-Vanilla meshes (clothes & armor). Do the following if you CTD in these areas:

Mind of Madness - defeating Potema (last part) - rename the following folders \Data\meshes\clothes\yarlclothes02 & yarlclothes03 - You can change them back after you complete the quest.

The Staff of Magnus - Labyrinthian - the four ghost mages use various mage robes - rename all the mage robes (folders) located here: \Data\meshes\clothes - You can change them back after you complete the quest.

Enjoy!
