First, I love this game.
![]() Second, I've been calling her "Archee", but I have no idea if I'm right or not. Possibilities that come to my mind are "Arsh" (french-ish) "Arsh-uh" (ditto) "Arch" "Arch-uh" "Aerch" "Ark" So my question is: How does one pronounce "Arche"? Last edited by cucumariid: 02-13-2012 at 04:42 PM. |

I've been saying "Arch". The Katakana used to sound out her name uses a hard "ch" sound and not an "sh" so they're definitely going for that. Her name is actually written A-Ru-Che where the last "e" is a soft sound like from "mend" but since the name isn't actually Japanese and Japanese consonant sounds always have to be paired with a vowel the "e" could be entirely extraneous when her name is written in Katakana. I'll stick with "Arch".

Herm well I fished a wiki link out of this forum somewhere and I got アルチェ...Which sounds most like "Archer" to me. (Though hell if I understand some of these transliterations. I'm looking at you, ユーモア).
Plus the transliteration of "Chartreux" in this comic is pretty BLERGH. |

The premium version form Japan got full voice actors, right?
Why don't check out on YouTube if anyone says her name? |

Except many Japanese VAs, even very talented professional ones, can only read foreign words via Katakana which goes along with what I said above about Japanese forcing you to add vowels, even if they're extraneous. Like in certain anime where they might say "ARUKADO" despite the name undeniably being "Alucard" or "RIKKU" instead of "Rick", etc.

I've always said Archee. If they don't explicitly SAY the name audibly, I think it's safe to pronounce it however you think feels natural. ;-)
