Steam error 16?

Hey everyone,

I can't figure out what the problem is, my skyrim launcher refuses to download a single subscribed mod telling me "Failed to download a subscribed file! Steam error 16"

Anyone know how I can stop this from happening and force it to download the mods?

I'm getting the exact same problem, it happens when it checks my crowded cities mod and the improved skill books one.

The only thing to get around this for the time being is to download the mods of the Skyrim nexus site

Edit: Now every mod I sub to today are getting that error on the launcher, VALVe have probably done something to the workshop recently to cause this to show up (they are still tweaking and updating it after all), here is to hoping they can fix this soon if it is on their end

I'm getting this issue as well. I played a couple days ago and was able to update my mods just fine.

Same here, only started today after I unsubscribed from a few mods. Everything synced perfectly yesterday. Now the error message pops up four or five times when synching my 15 mods. Probably only the ones that are not up to date, I suppose.

Everyone, just upload your mods to skyrimnexus.com and be done with it. Much more reliable servers there.

Yes, because nexus has never had issues. Surely not the over-bandwidth problems or hosting problems. Now is not the time for rash actions. This is Valve and Steam we're talking about - not EA. The issue will be fixed today. You just need some patience.

Nexus has had tons of problems and is a far older platform. By now they should have these errors worked out.
The nexus sites have been running for years and still have issues all the time.

Steam workshop is almost brand new(5 months old) in comparison it's bound to have bugs and problems, People downloaded 2 million skyrim mods in 3 days, thats not including all the TF2 mods that were likely downloaded in those days either.
Not many new platforms can handle that sort of traffic without bugs.

Yeah lets play Skyrim on a punch card computer while we're at it.

It appears there is still no progress on a fix for this?

Just started working for me about 2 minutes ago. Server issue, perhaps?

Holy $#!7!!!!!! FIXED ALREADY??!?!??!! I finally downloaded the Colored Torches mod. Creating backup copies of installed mods onto a desktop folder as a precaution. One thing I have to say: EVERYBODY, GET YOUR MODS WHILE YOU CAN!!!!!!!
