Textureing Zoey from L4D in 3DS max, help?

I am trying to add textures to Zoey in 3ds max, I have decompiled the model and everything I just need textures, anyway, when I add a texture it adds, but it adds that texture and only that texture all over the body and face and hair, and it won't let me add more than one texture (Example: using the body texture will put the texture on teh body, but it will also put the texture all over the face, the same if I try using the face texture, it puts the texture on the face, but all over the body aswell) I would very much like to know how to add multiple textures to the model, as I can only have one at a time, and how to fix this problem.
Thanks for taking the time to read and reply.

The model is a single mesh and to assign multiple textures to it you need to:

a) create a Multi/Sub-Object material type in max.
b) for each material "slot" create a standard material type.
c) in each of those assign the texture to the diffuse channel.

You can now reference each material in that texture by it's ID number.

So you apply the multi/sub object to the whole mesh, select the individual faces you want to be a certain texture and then change the texture ID of those faces to the ID of the material slot you want to use.
