3D Vision not playable

FYI, you really can't say you support Nvidia 3D but have a horrendous shadow depth issue in 3D at the same time. It hurts my eyes to even look at it. The dynamic shadows have the wrong depth (not recessed, it's in the foreground of vision) and since you game have shadows everywhere, 3D must be turned off to not get an immediate headache. Any game can run in 3D, any game, but to trully "support" it means your game renders completely proper in 3D, yours does not I'm affraid. Not sure if the testers missed this or what, but it needs to be "handled" in some capacity.

This is a common issue but other games combat this by having an option to turn off shadows. Not sure if that's feasible for your title, but look into it. Ideally, you can fix this, but I won't hold your breath.

BTW, when I booted up the game for the first time, it said I had an "inadaquate hardware" but that couldn't be more untrue. I run at 1920x1080 with EVERY gfx option maxed and in 3D and run at full speed. So your little detectoin there is faulty.

Win 7 x64, Nvidia 460gt, Intel i5 2500k@4.3ghz.

That's true. This game would be PERFECT if it could be played in 3D. Alan Wake and 3D would be a stunning combination.

Btw, the other problem - lights not on the correct position - can be solved with changing the convergence and playing around with 3D-depth.

"Will Alan Wake PC support Stereoscopic 3D?

We have internally tested that the game works with NVISION 3D very nicely."

Yes yes, another lie.

You can't trust nvidia, the also claimed The Witcher 2 would work well and they had ensured it would. Yet it took three months after release to even be playable with 3d drivers installed on ones pc.

That quote was from the Remedy PC FAQ, not from Nvidia.

well this game does not support sli yet either and allot of cards would need that to max the game in 3d hopefully a future nvidia driver will be released soon to fix 3d and sli.

Yeah, I don't want to bash them (I love these guys) but that was one of the reasons why I purchased the title (already owned for Xbox). Hopefully they can get this working!!! Or maybe remove the 3D "support" statement as it is currently false. It supports it as well as some of my pc games from the late 90's.

Hi All

We are aware of the 3D Vision issues with Alan Wake. To be honest, we dont have a rating for the game and did not message the title is being amazing in 3D.

Our next major driver release will rate the game Poor because of the issues in it.

We are hopeful the developer will address the issues in the game.

how can a gtx460 even run the game smoothly in 3D with fully maxed settings at 1920x1080? from the benchmarks I have seen, the gtx460 can barely run it on fully max settings at 1920x1080 without 3D.

Hey, the 460gt is a fine card. Geez, just got it last year. Do I really need to buy a new gfx card every year? Anyway, probably the cpu makes up for ANY perf issue with the card. Love the sandy bridges!!!

Thanks for chiming in Andrew. It is unforunate but hopefully they'll sort it out.

And sorry I meant full speed at 1920x1080 no 3D or 1280x720 in 3D (settings maxed in both configs). Not sure how to run at 1080p though in 3D here...you need the game running at 24hz, don't you? I don't think you can set that in Alan Wake/most games. So i HAVE to play at 720p. Not sure why there's that limitation there. Andrew?

People are getting a little annoyed about the 3D claim:

You guys really need to correct this somehow, people are asking for their money back over this misleading information.
