Game crashes after the first stage

Hi,
I did a quick search of the forum and found some posts that suggest people have had the same problem, but I haven't found any solutions.
Anyway, my problem is this: I completed the tutorial, walked past the collapsed bridge and activated the first save point/stone thing with the fairy. When I moved to the next screen, the game crashed to my desktop. Every time I try to load the game, it crashes immediately. Any suggestions?

I seem to be having issues that I crash before the game even fully starts up. I can't even get to the main menu at all.

I'm unsure as to when this started happening but my drivers are updated as well, I've played the game on my current laptop before so for it to now start having issues is weird and annoying...

Please post any by date relevant error report.
And please, even if the game used to work, please present a DXdiag.
