Hey all,
Just found a post on the Nvidia forums here about SLI for those who are interested. http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=223066 Seems Nvidia will be releasing an SLI profile sooner rather than later. Apparently they're working on some corruption issues with the dev. The posts from nvidia are below for those who don't want to look through the whole page. Posted yesterday: "We are working with the developer to fix an issue with the game that causes corruption in SLI mode. We are very hopeful this issue will be resolved soon and we can roll out an SLI profile to customers afterwards." followed by this one, posted today. "We have an SLI profile ready to push out to users as soon as this issue is resolved. " Will be nice to play the game with SLI working properly. |

I've been less than impressed with Nvidia's drivers, to say the least. Been using Nvidia for over 15 years too.. I'll prolly do a full AMD system actually. |

7970 is 20% faster than GTX 580, but it's $50 more expensive than GTX 580. GTX 680 is 40% faster than 7970, but the rumor price is $100 more than 7970. Now if only GTX 680 is $499, that would have been something else. Performance wise, GTX 680 is 1.2 x 1.4 = 1.68 (68% faster than GTX 580). Last edited by yapchagi: 02-18-2012 at 11:24 PM. |

Actually, AMD has already released their first 28nm gpu (the 7900 series), while Kepler will come out in the next months, but as for now, the 7970 is only 20-25% faster than a 2010's GTX580, and the 580 is a 40nm gpu. Kepler's top gpu will be at least 40 to 50% faster than a GTX580. So no, AMD has lower power consumption, but Nvidia still has the best perfomance on single gpus. Quote:
no srsly, enjoy the hell you'll find with AMD's drivers. Quote:
enjoy the terribad Bulldozer crap too |

With ATI last year, about half the games I got that came out needed a new driver to even be playable because of ridiculously low frame rates or visual glitches. Nvidia seem to have solid drivers for their cards to run games any games and ATI seem to be pretty much writing drivers on a per game basis! You easily see 3 driver sets a month from them. It's fine if you're patient and happy to install lots of driver updates (which I thankfully am!) just bear it in mind. Oh and on a more minor note, forcing settings (like AA) in ATI drivers seems prone to causing visual issues in a minority of games so you're kind stuck with application settings and configuring each game. Not an issue as you get each new game but a pain when you ignored the AA setting in all your existing games because you used to let the driver set it. ![]() This sounds like I don't like my ATI card lol. But I really do. I'm just warning you that its worse than nvidia at the reason you want to leave nvidia because of.

I completely agreed with Earthworm James. nVIDIA GPUs have always won the crown if u compare the cards same-generation wise.
Not sure if these are the right models, but here we go: 8800 GTX vs 3870 9800 GTX vs 4870 GTX 285 vs 5870 GTX 480/580 vs 6970 ...and now GTX 680 vs 7970. I think nVIDIA has always won there...But did nVIDIA win the crown with GeForce 6800 Ultra? Not sure what it was up against from the red team, Radeon X1850XTX super duper XTX XXTTXX? |
