Just The Author's Personal Experiences?

After reading so many thoughts, debates, theories and discussions about the various elements and references contained in Dear Esther, I cannot help but wonder if the game is not just an outlet, or memorial to the author's own life experiences.

Are the objects/symbolisms contained in the game situations and events that have occurred in his life, immortalised in an artistic and storylike environment?

Perhaps.

I've thought about this as well. It seems too elaborate or thought out to be just a project or a story. A lot of TLC went into this, and it really shows through to me.
