Having problems with opening TF2

It happens all the time i am starting TF2, it works perfectly with other games...

it gives me an error, so can someone help?

It says:

SteamSturtup() failed: SteamStartup(0xf,
0x0xbfffec3c) failed with error 1: Failed create pipe
:0

I'm also having the same issue, same error. Other games will run but not TF2.

All valve games are affected.

I wish to register that I am having the same issue with the same error message. I'm running 10.6.8 if that has any affect on the matter.
