Hey fellow Steam members. I have one simple question. Consoles or no consoles? Not as in, are consoles bette than PCs, but as in, do you like them in general?
For me I would have to say: To some extent. Too many consoles is bad and inconvinient, but having, like, 3 or less is OK. I have a Dreamcast, N64, and XBox (Original) and love them all equally. What do you have to say to the matter? |

Both consoles and PCs have their strengths and weaknesses. I enjoy all the systems I own to the full extent
I currently own the; Wii, N64, Gamecube, PS2, PS3, PSP, 3DS and the Nintendo DSi (plus the original fat DS). |

I don't like them for the prices they demand for games.

I love the blu-ray player in the ps3 and the convenience of being able to move it between houses. I have a ps3, 360 and pc. The consoles I use more for movies & media server activity and the portability is just great for me.

I have a PS2, which I occasionally use to play the original .hack cycle, Silent Hill 2, and some PS1 games.
As for modern consoles, they don't really have a place in my gaming diet yet. A significant chunk of their library is composed of FPS games, which simply aren't playable without a K+M -- and even when they allow you to use K+M, the game mechanics to me seem dumbed down to allow you to play with a controller. Indie devs seem to know what the strengths of consoles are, but then I'd rather buy from them directly on PC rather than let MS or Sony get a share -- if there's a Linux version, even better. Maybe some day Windows will drive me far enough up the wall that I'll just rage quit Windows, install Linux on every hard drive I have access to, and buy a PS3 to handle all my gaming needs, but that day hasn't arrived yet. |

I do and don't. On one hand, I do enjoy many console-exclusive genres like jRPGs and simple beat 'em ups, but on the other I can hardly justify the expenses at this point in my life so I still haven't upgraded from my aging PS2.

I like consoles over pc but FPS games are way better on pc. I have had really bad and expensive experiences on pc but i gotta admit that when everything is working as it should then pc gaming is best for me.

I loved consoles all the way through the 16-bit era. Once that was over, they started losing their appeal to me because I don't think a controller is the best way to control a character in 3D space, at least compared with the M/KB.
With dual analog sticks, I really do feel like I'm controlling a tank. Now, I do have a PSP, but it only has one analog stick and the games I purchase for it are mostly retro collections anyway, so not sure if that counts. Further, the type of games I love most aren't represented on consoles well (RTS/TBS) or at all (Simulation). |

I use them for about half of my gaming.
I couldn't limit myself to a platform. PC is the best overall but the PS2 with it's massive library of titles is still the best console imo. |

Eh, with Consoles, especially with Xbox, you have to pay, to play online, and well, I never liked the PS3 anyway. I enjoy the Gamecube alot, and the Nintendo 64.
Overall, I say in my opinion, PC is the best, and can basically do everything, including be a console (with the help of emulators)

I'm sorry, because there are more console gamers developers end up making horrible PC ports of their games and don't give the features that consumers actually want.
Is that better? |
