Dear Esther - German Translation

Dear Esther Translation Pack Installations-Anleitung

Download: DE_German.rar

1. Das Installieren des Translation Packs ist leicht, einfach den Inhalt der .rar-Datei hier extrahieren:

(IhrSteamOrdner)/steamapps/common/dear esther/dearesther/resource/

4. Starten Sie Dear Esther und Sie sollten Ihre Sprache nun im Spiel sehen können!

FYI

Hi, I am the German translator. If there are any issues or questions regarding the translation (and the translation only), just post them here.

Natürlich darf man auch auf Deutsch antworten

I think this may be a reason. Unofficial feature (with mistakes, as you can read in posts about Italian translation), authors-volunteers. +there probably should be an authentication process or something by Steam to let these translations go into game legit.
And now they are probably consider as simple "mods"

@down: Well, my bad, don't know Italian well, just copying posts into translator and drawing conclusions. But anyway, non-official is non-official - the reason of "non-official update" in my opinion

The italian translation doesn't have mystakes, actually is that ppl is ignorant, the author used an old form of Italian which is actually the true Italian.

I was mainly used two centuries ago, but is still used in literature, nad it gives a nice touch on a game like that.

i guess the second update since yesterday (it had ~30 mb and now ~15 mb) has something to do with the translation updates and integration?

thank you dear translator, and thanks "brisck1" for sharing

btw: what you say about the "old form" of the italian sounds really fitting, great idea to not translate it into some sort of "colloquial" speech, but to keep it original and suitable.

@freakintiger: i'll test the translation and give some feedback - just had a fast look inside the cap-doc and read into the first sentences, looks good... can't wait to playthrough it again on german. thanks again.

edit: will these translations which are popping up here also be added inside the "Community Translation Packs" thread? the sticky one above? or will there be others for that?!

The Italian translation is currently one of the most cultured and refined translations that I've ever seen in a game. The problem was born because some young italian users do not know the history of Italian language and ignored the existence of a cultured and "Pirandelliano" Italian that use alternative but correct orthographic forms.

I can't seem to get the translation to work. The menu is in German (although some options are fully capitalized), but the chapter headings and the subtitles are still in English.

I tried both ways, via the -language german launch option and setting my steam language to German. Both had the same results.

Help?

Have you copied them to the right location? Because that can be the only explanation. You see German words because the game comes with the default language files provided by Valve. They seem not to be overwritten. You must have overwritten some files. If this is not the case, then this might be the issue.
