PS3 might slow the development of this game.

It cost $40,000 to patch a console game. The cross platform gaming between PS3 and PC might not work. Unless Valve decide to not (or less) update the game after release or Sony decide to not charge Valve... or Valve don't mind losing a lot of money. I hope Valve and Sony don't face this problem, because this would mean if something minor is broken, we might not see a fix for a long time. Take a look at the amount of update on the xbox version of TF2 and the PC version. I think they updated the ps3 version only once? This might also mean we might never get new map added to the competitive matchmaking system. |

Valve has Steam running on the PS3 now, can't they just update the game through that? I don't have a PS3, so I don't know how Portal 2's been handled, but what's the point of the PS3 Steam if it's not used for content downloads and keeping your game up to date? Community features are nice, but it hardly seems worthwhile.
The 360 version though, I don't have high hopes for that. |

Valve should just pay a third party team to create a ps3 port. It should not stop the development of the pc version and Valve should be giving all its time and resources on getting it done for platform that has always been there for Counter-Strike, the PC gaming community.

So long as the PC version doesnt end up forcing this 'fog' on us becuase the consoles require it, they can do whatever they want with the console version. Nothing else really concerns me, development time isn't an issue since they openly announced that before release there will be an open beta, so all the release date will ultimately mean is the date this game costs money.

I doubt there is a $40,000 fee to patch a game, that'd be a little weird. More like the console QA process costs the developer $40,000 in labor.
But Valve has a special deal worked out with Sony to patch their games more often. Portal 2 has been patched once a month minimum, sometimes 4-5 times. http://store.steampowered.com/news/?...tes&appids=620 So I don't think we have to worry here. |

Does the content come from Valves own servers for portal?

The PS3 version of the Orange Box only got one update because Valve let EA do the port and EA screwed it up.
