It would shock the industry. While story wise HL3/ep3 might deliver, will it graphically? ARMA III, new Tomb Raider look so advanced. UE4 demo however didn't impress me. It isn't a huge leap from the Samaritean demo. Though the developing tools are next to none. Will Source also have such wonderful tools?

Anyway, by 2013-2014 HL3 will surely launch. No doubt about that. The real question is will it launch even earlier?
And, again since I only got one answer( and yes i did search and the tool is horrible. Forget the domains. ) and flew over most of the heads, is the new Valve intro a showcase of the revamped Source engine?

I am not sure if it is relevant to the conversation, but about 1 and a half month ago, before Gabe's email about E3, some guy claiming to be working for Valve said that they wouldn't announce anything HL related at E3 but would start off a new franchise with a psychic lady as protagonist. I have the screenshot, and it was on /v/ at .org.

I'm not saying it's not, but I doubt it has anything to do with a majorly revamped version of Source. Valve usually just change up their opening logo ever so many years, but I don't know if it's just for aesthetics or if it has to do with a major adjustment to their engine. My bet is on the former though

Kind of reminds me of Prospero, anyways link to or picture of this mystery Valve employee's claims or it didn't happen.

Yeah, do your homework. You're new here, but to regulars, Prospero has been confirmed as being permanently shelved, so shut up about it.

That's true Prospero was shelved long before even Half Life was done, but nothing at Valve truly dies...

Yeah, and that makes me sad. Prospero looked like so great of a game.

It appears that way. Next year makes more sense for them; I just hope we won't have to go for another full year without anything. But we probably will.

Valve's schedule will most likely be completely clear by E3 2013 - it will be the perfect time for a reveal.

They'll show it as soon as they can, they won't wait until E3 if it's done by then, and they won't rush it for E3 if it's not.

Actually, they might do that second one.

Heh.. if I had a nickel for every time I'd heard that since 2007.

Man this E3 is going to be so boring. Not just because Half-life 3 isn't being revealed, but... It's like the lack of new consoles or crazy awesome games just doesn't make this E3 good enough to look forward to.
I hope I'm wrong though.

No - quite the contrary.

They're only going to announce it... when it's done. I don't think they want us waiting another year after we've waited 6-7 years.
