Left 4 Dead 2 on Windows 8
Anyone else having issues? My game crashes as soon as I hit the main menu. On the consumer preview x64. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't expect a lot of things to work on a "preview" version of Windows 8. Maybe reinstall it?

I don't have Windows 8 or know much about it, but isn't there a way to run a program in compatibility mode, like on Windows 7?
If yes, you should try running L4D2 in Windows 7 compatibility mode (if you haven't already tried). |

That's a good question. Maybe you need to update your drivers to a Windows 8 version (if they're available... I know AMD have already them for most of their GC)?

I had the same problem with Windows 8 CP but after right clicking the game in Steam and deleting local content then re-installing it the game runs great. I'm getting 8-15 FPS better in Windows 8 compared to Windows 7 SP1.

Guys, there's a reason why there are beta releases of OSes:
So people/developers can test their programs before the OS comes to the market to ensure compatibility. Therefore discussing issues is neccessary. Therefore letting the developers know is neccessary, because this does not mean that it's automatically the OSes fault. So the existence of this thread is perfectly justified. |

What I did was remove all files from the cfg folder then verified the integrity of the cache and redownloaded files and it works now. :P

he mean't it isn't supported, if you check Steam Requirements you will notice no game has Windows 8 displayed, thats like trying to run something on Linux or Ubuntu even though its not listed. There maybe a work around for it. But, who cares? No one is gonna update to Windows 8 from 7 right now, only Pirates will at this point. Why waste 300 dollars on a new OS when the last one seems to be fine.

It works on 8 after you nuke the files in the cfg folder then verify the cache. Problem solved.
