I bought FarCry 2 the other day and had a few problems downloading it, After finally downloading it it's now stuck forever installing PunkBuster and has been so for the past 2 hours. Can anyone lend me a hand here? What's up with it.

Do you have an anti-virus running, try suspending it temporarily. Otherwise, if you don't intend on playing FC2 in MP mode, you don't have to install PB. Exit Steam... then go to:
?:\...\Steam\steamapps\common\far cry 2\installers\PunkBuster\ And delete the file pbsvc.exe Then restart Steam and try installing again. |

You don't really have to remove PB though.
I don't like unnecessary services running and loading, so I just use msconfig.exe to disable PB A and PB B from running on startup. You can also do it through services.msc but msconfig.exe is less confusing for most people. |

Thank you,rep for all of you. Bought it today and had the same problem. It seems punkbuster was already running (in task manager) although it was not yet installed....strange. But stopping the process and deleting the PB ordner solved it.
